Sorauta 宇宙謳, to sing to the universe
Nestled in the serene countryside of Oshu, Iwate, The Villa "Sorauta Private Stay" is one of Japan's best-kept secrets, a hidden gem where timeless rural landscapes shaped by generations, deep cultural heritage, and quiet luxury come together in perfect harmony.

Sacred Ground, Minutes Away
Hiraizumi the UNESCO World Heritage Site, a gateway to Japan's most sacred history far from the crowds. Also a get away destination from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Just five minutes away, Chuson-ji Temple.
Founded in the late Heian period, this vast temple complex is home to the Konjikido (Golden Hall), whose enduring glow reflects the memory of a culture that once flourished here.
Ten minutes further, Motsu-ji Temple.
Its Pure Land garden, also created in the late Heian period, was designed as an earthly reflection of paradise—still, open, and quietly timeless.
And fifteen minutes from the villa, Takkoku no Iwaya Bishamondo.
Founded over 1,200 years ago, this vermilion hall rests against the rock face, in quiet harmony with the natural world.
Not grand.
Not loud.
Just quietly sacred.

Four Seasons,
Four Stories
Experience Japan through all four seasons: cherry blossoms in spring, vivid green summers, breathtaking autumn foliage, and serene snow-covered winters. Each visit tells a different story.

And as the year draws to a close, a great family of wild swans arrives from distant Siberia — settling into the quiet rice fields surrounding the villa for a month or two. They don't rush. They simply live here for a while. We hope you'll do the same, and discover the beauty of winter here, with us.

Come late December, the rice fields transform. Snow blankets the countryside in silence, and a great family of wild swans arrives from distant Siberia — settling into the fields surrounding the villa for the winter. Unlike other parts of Tohoku, Oshu's snow is light and melts quickly — making it an ideal base for travelers who want to experience a true Japanese winter landscape.
